Translation, a creative process

Translating is a creative process with much more to it than meets the eye.

The profession is often underestimated, because translating a source text into a target text seems simple. Nothing could be further from the truth.

As a translator you have to deal with assignments for companies and individuals, and the texts can vary from formal to informal. The sentences will be adjusted to the context accordingly.

The source language often includes various terms that have no or multiple equivalents in the target language. But when are two words considered to be equal? Is it the meaning, the form, the effect or function of the words that makes them equivalent.

When revising a text, EJC Translations takes notice of typos, inconsistencies and errors in grammar. Naturally, the process of translation also demands a keen eye for detail.
